Bernhard von der Gabelentz, born 1976 in Berlin, started violin lessons at the age of 6. After finishing school he studied the violin with Prof. Unger at the Hochschule für Musik Carl-Maria von Weber in Dresden and since 1998 at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Prof. Jan Tomes from which he graduated with excellent marks in 2003.

Since 2004 he works as a freelancing musician. Next to numerous engagements as a chamber musician and frequent collaborator in the concerts and international tours of the Berliner Symphoniker, he specialized in Argentinian Tango. In 2001 he founded the "Quinteto Angel" together with Ch. Gerber and F. Schulte, which has evolved to one of the most renowned Tango ensembles in Europa. Since their foundation in 2003, he is first violin in the Gran orquesta tipica Sabor a Tango. During his various concert engagements he played all of Germany, also almost every country in Europe as well as Japan. In the course of the European tour "Cafe de los Maestros", he worked intensively with Tango legends such as Luis Stazo, Fernando Suarez Paz, Ernesto Baffa, Osvaldo Montes and Aribal Arias. He is also a member of "Sexteto Stazo Mayor" of the Gran Maestro del Tango Luis Stazo, which was a great success in 2008 and 2009 as part of the internationally famous Tango show "Tango Pasion" in Paris, Munich and Athens.
