Tango orchestra captivates a whole concert hall

“Sabor a Tango” is the name of the 10-musician band from Berlin which performed a very special tango menu
last Saturday at the Rossini hall. The starters, main dishes and desserts were so exquisite that the third encore,

unexpected by the audience, who were about to leave the hall, made them come back to their seats to enjoy a last
theme.

“Sabor a Tango”, the new tango group of the German capital, presented the classical hits of the golden age of tango
with their typical orchestra – four bandoneones, four violins, a double bass and a piano.

The orchestra was founded in 2003 by Robert Schmidt (pianist) and Peter Reil, the most prominent bandoneon
player in Germany. Ten outstanding musicians perform perfectly the different styles of the big orchestras of the last
eight decades and bring this show to today’s most crowded concert halls and milongas.

“Sabor a Tango” knows how to communicate exactly what tango is, a feeling that ranges from joy, which can
even be naughty, to a deep melancholy. To do that, they made use of famous themes, compositions and own
arrangements, which were always different, showing consequently a wonderful mixture of tangos, waltzes and
milongas (an ancient Argentinean folk dance, with a fast two-four time which preceded current tango).

This compelling orchestra performed several themes of famous orchestras such as “Orlando Goñi” of Alfredo Gobi
or “Negracha” of Raúl Garello. The first effusive bravos from the audience sounded in the first part of the concert
after the themes “Canaro en París” and “Loca” of Juan Juan D'Adrienzo.

The second part continued with the same energy. The audience, plunged into a tango trance, carefully watched
and listened to how the orchestra was growing little by little. An enthusiastic applause would join all the performed
themes and the exclamations were directed not only to famous tangos like “Verano Porteño” of Astor Piazolla, but
also to “Delirio de la Milonga”, a Peter Reil’s composition, as well as to the devastating end with “La Cumparsita”.

Vigorous and spirited, varied, entertaining, sensual and melancholic, these are some of the attributes that filled the
Rossini hall with a tango atmosphere.

We could praise “Sabor a Tango” for a spectacular gig and thank them for an unforgettable evening!
